She looked in the mirror

She looked in the mirror
and what did she see
her reflection looking
deep within her soul you see

It doesn't look good
It doesn't look grand
I am not who I am
There is more to me than this she said

So she shed her cloths
And washed away
all the old and bad
then became herself once again

Death

There he was on the edge of life
fighting to survive
In the end did he win
or just die

What happens when we go
It's so mystrious
and very unknown
Every day looking for an answer
but instead just
more and more people
dieing and you wonder
why WHY why
pain and suffering
and you curse god
even when you do not believe
needing someone to blame
or you would go insane

There he was on the edge of life
fighting to survive
In the end did he win
or just die

Zentangled Poem

This is my second Zentangle I have made on the computer
and the first time I ever added a poem to a Zentangle.
It was pretty fun... I think I will make some more of these.

A few poems about suffering...

Poem # 1: (Pantoum)

Suffering and Pain Shape You

Suffering and pain shape you
into something new
because you learn
and Move on

Into something new
and so often better
and move on
and feel happiness

And so often better
filled with joy
and feel happiness
But how do you know your happy

filled with joy
You look to the bad
but how do you know your happy
because you remember

you look to the bad
then experience a hug
because you remember
the happiness is amazing

Then experience a hug
or a kiss
the happiness is amazing
Because of all the pain

Or a kiss
an amazing feeling
because of all the pain
you can realize true happiness

An amazing feeling
suffering and pain shape you
you can realize true happiness
because you learn

Poem # 2: (Found)

People have to really suffer
before they can risk doing what they love

If you never feel the suffering
how will you know it is what you love?
If you never feel the suffering
will you appreciate what you love?

People have to really suffer
before they can risk doing what they love

because you need to know that it is good
and great
and wonderful
to really know you must feel all the bad
and pain
and hurt
only then will you know that you truly love
and care
and appreciate
all that is there in front of you

Poem # 3: (Rhyming)

How would you know happiness
if it wasn't for all the nastiness?
If you never felt pain
would you even experience any gain?
You would you grow and learn
with out any concern?
If life were all the same
wouldn't it just be lame?
How would you know happiness
if it wasn't for all the nastiness?

Poem # 4: (free verse)

the truly great
suffer and experience pain
because they have learned from their mistakes
they are able to be great
look to the past
and the present
the happy people
the ones who have greatness
are the ones who have suffered
who have had bad experience
that really changed their life
the truly great

It's For the Children

it's for the children
you know
that we spend all your money
take away your guns
and strip you of your rights

it's for the children
you know
never mind all the debt
they will have to pay
from all the spending

it's for the children
you know
never mind the false sense of security
that's been created
becuase they no longer see a need to carry a gun

it's for the children
you know
never mind the dependency
they will have on the government
becuase of too many laws

it's for the children
you know
we tell our selves and you
so we can do whatever
we feel we need to do

"It's for the children"

A False Sense of Security

Imagine a women
with a sign
"No guns no crimes!"
She thinks this will stop all of the violence
in every one's life!
A false sense of security
making her feel safe
which creates a dangerous place
where the strong stand tall
and the weak underneath.

Now imagine later down the road
when she's walking through an ally
and gets attacked by a stranger
will him not having a gun
really stop him from raping her?
A false sense of security
making her feel safe
which creates a dangerous place
where the strong stand tall
and the weak underneath.

Isn't it ridiculous
isn't it sad
how she thinks more laws
will stop all the bad?
Like a little child snug under their blanket
thinking no one can get them now.
A false sense of security
making her feel safe
which creates a dangerous place
where the strong stand tall
and the weak underneath.

Why would she fight so hard to be her own person
just to look to others for her protection?
Now she is no longer independent
and not equal to everyone else
becuase she is weaker
and can not fight for herself.
A false sense of security
making her feel safe
which creates a dangerous place
where the strong stand tall
and the weak underneath.

If she only had carried a gun
She wouldn't be dead
becuase she didn't have time to run
and she wouldn't have died scared
waiting for the police to say
everything will be okay.
Her false sense of security
made her feel safe
but in the end
it only made her have a horrible fate.
Becuase no guns only
make the strong stand tall
with the weak underneath.

Zero Tolerance

"No cell phones!"
A child is texting in class
Say goodbye to that phone
A child's father calls from Iraq
Say goodbye to that phone
It's okay because its fair

Never mind that these cases are different
Never mind one child was just goofing off
And the other was talking to his father who is in a war zone
In the name of zero tolerance
We must treat everyone the same

"No weapons!"
A child brings a knife to school
With the intent of hurting someone
Expelled
A child brings a toy gun to school
With the intent of playing
Expelled
It's okay because its fair

Never mind that these cases are different
Never mind one child wanted to hurt someone
And the other one wanted to share a toy
In the name of zero tolerance
We must treat everyone the same

Zero tolerance and fairness
May seem to go hand in hand
But only because people misunderstand
What fair really means
Fair is NOT treating everyone the same
Fair is treating everyone based on who they are

I love you (Work in progress)

There you are
Plaid shirt
Cargo pants
Looking at me
Smiling

3 years ago you asked
me to marry you
But it sure feels as if
that was forever ago

There you are
Plaid shirt
Cargo pants
Looking at me
Laughing

We are very different
yet somehow the same
Here we are two kids
And we have only been married two years

There you are
Plaid shirt
Cargo pants
Looking at me
smirking

Life is a zoo
kids, dogs, cats
diapers, furr and puke
yet there is no where I'd rather be

There you are
Plaid shirt
Cargo pants
Looking at me
Grinning

When we die
I do not know what will happen
All I do know
Is that I will find you

There you are
Plaid shirt
Cargo pants
Looking at me
Chuckaling

I'll always love you
is an understatment
There is no words to desribe
the feeling I get when you walk in the room

There you are
Plaid shirt
Cargo pants
And I can't help but smile
Becuase you're more than I deserve

Little Hugs

Diapers, diapers
Long nights
Feed me, feed me
What a sight
No, no
Keep on the light
Mommy, mommy
Say good night
Help me, help me
Little hugs make things bright

Little Girl

Little hands
Little toes
Smiling eyes
Tiny nose
My little baby girl

Cream of wheat
Mushed up veggies
Brother sneaks her
Crackers, sandwitches and so much more
My little baby girl

Her she goes
She lifts her head
little grunts
the rest unsaid
My little baby girl

Here comes brother
pushing, fighting
Biting, kissing
Hugging, loving
My little baby girl

Walking, Running
Here she comes
Miss Independent
On the run
No longer my little baby girl

What is Left (Written in 2003)

Crying and puking
Nobosy ever dies free
Everyone is a prisoner of their own insanity
Can you honestly choose your own destiny>
You die and you cry
Love?
You can't get that from me
What is left if you don't even have your dignity?
Lies become more lies
Why can't you just leave them be?
Everyone has to pay for loosing themselves in money
Nothing will ever be what you expected to see
This is my grasp of only one part of reality

Untitled (Rough Draft)

I want strawberries
Buffalo wings
Can’t stand the smell of spaghetti
Where’s my ice cream?
Throwing up
about everything and anything
Swish swish swish
of the baby’s heart
Summersaults in my belly
Kicking, punching
Constant hurting of my back

I want strawberries
Buffalo wings
Can’t stand the smell of spaghetti
Where’s my ice cream?
Piles and piles of baby clothing
A crib
A stroller
Blankets galore
Never thought I would use that many wipes
Diapers
Boy or girl?

I want strawberries
Buffalo wings
Can’t stand the smell of spaghetti
Where’s my ice cream?
Oh, no I have gestational diabetes
1 cup of fruit
More protein
Not so much bread
½ cup of ice cream
Prick prick prick
Insulin in the leg

I want strawberries
Buffalo wings
Can’t stand the smell of spaghetti
Where’s my ice cream?
Oh my god this hurts
Let’s play cards
Cramp cramp cramp
Shit, make it stop!
Oh please baby just come out
It’s a boy
My face running with tears of joy

The Travel West

Jolting of wagons,
Sea of dust engulfs cattle,
When will new life come?

Where I am From

I am from Massachusetts,
California
And 9 different schools

I am from my mom
Who is stubborn,
opinionated
and independent

I am from the ocean
The redwoods
The city
And the mountains

I am from my Grandmother
Who is a worry wart,
crafty
and has always been there for me

I am from beanie babies
Pancakes and spaghetti
Card games
And basketball

I am from my grandfather, Bub,
Who was impatient,
funny
and a father figure

I am from the song my girl
The movie my Cousin Vinnie
The Harry Potter books
And poetry

I am from the Wonson’s
The Swanson’s, the Griffin’s, The Bray’s
And so many more
Just another branch on my family’s tree

Her Eyes Are Made of Cotton

Her eyes are made of cotton
Her skin the living earth
Her bones were made of twigs
And her voice was never heard

No one ever knew her
No one ever will
She was always there
Yet noone dared to tell

Her nose always nose always crooked
Her hair never straight
She was unnoticed
She was gone without a trace

It wasn't like I knew her
It wasn't like I cared
But once I got paced the layers
I couldn't help but stare

She was walking through the hall
She was walking with her kin
And all of a sudden
She was all I had within

Her eyes are made of cotton
Her skin the living earth
Her bones are made of twigs
And her voice was never heard
